Sebastian Eichelsbacher, a research assistant and PhD student at our Chair of Digital Agriculture, gave a specialist presentation on 25 March 2026 at the 14th conference of the Weihenstephan Institute for Cereal Research (WIG) in Freising.
The presentation, entitled ‘No soil, hydroponics and LEDs – can indoor wheat be of high quality?’, examined the quality characteristics of wheat grown in a vertical farming system.
The focus was on the findings of the paper by Bassu et al. (2025): ‘Positive impact of hydroponics and artificial light on yield and quality of wheat’ in Scientific Reports.
We would like to thank the WIG for giving us the opportunity to present our findings, and for the many questions and the lively discussion with the interested conference audience.
