Congrats to Prasath for successfully defending his doctoral thesis on June 2nd, 2026!
Prasath’s doctoral thesis was entitled: “Integrating Belowground and Aboveground Signals: Poplar Responses to Fungal Associations and Herbivore Attack”.
Fungi negotiate, compete and cooperate with one another, thereby influencing the lives of the trees with which they interact. This doctoral thesis demonstrates how poplars communicate with their fungal partners, strengthen their defences against pests and respond to environmental stress. Using state-of-the-art genetic and chemical methods, a hidden world is being unravelled that could prove crucial for the future of sustainable forests.
