Expertise
Properties and functions of wood and other plant materials on different length scales (nanometres to centimetres), considering functionalities for the plant and for use as a material.
Experimental strengths: Environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM), microcomputed tomography (µCT), light microscopy, experimental micromechanics incl. development of micromechanical experiments under controlled environmental conditions and in combination with structural investigations (ex-situ, in-situ and in-operando).
