Sebastian Antreich
PostDoc

My name is Sebastian J. Antreich and I like nuts. Not only because they are very tasty and healthy, but also quite difficult to crack. During my doctoral studies, I learned a lot about plant shells, such as what they are made of and how strong and tough they are. From the woody shell it was not far to the wood. In the course of the "FOR BioAntiFatigue" project, I am now working on the swelling and shrinkage behaviour of wood fibres as well as on fatigue symptoms in the living(!) wood.
My expertise lies in the field of (scanning electron) microscopy (SEM, polarization, etc.) as well as in the (3D) visualization of plant tissues based on microcomputed tomography (μCT) or serial block face SEM. Furthermore, I am very interested in 3D printing as well as in scientific photography and videography.
