Research internship (with the option of a master's thesis): RNA thermometers (RNAT) as process control elements in precision fermentation, starting in July/August 2025

Tasks:

  • Familiarization with the world of RNA thermometers (doi: 10.1111/j.1574-6976.2005.004.x, 10.1016/j.molcel.2009.12.032,

  • Animal proteins from precision fermentation (doi: 10.1080/00963402.2017.1413059, 10.1016/j.jmb.2023.168191, 
    10.1016/j.pep.2015.09.015)
  • Experimental design: cloning methods, in silico plasmid design, shaking flask and bioreactor cultivation, data analysis
  • Cloning of the expression system in vivo (E. coli)
  • Testing of the expression system as cultivation in shaking flasks and bioreactors
  • Analyses: protein quantification, process parameters, yields, etc.

  • Objective: Comparison of the developed expression system with established induced expression systems
