Career
Xurui Ren earned her Bachelor in Biological Science from Northeast Agricultural University (NEAU, China) in 2023. From 2020 to 2023, she worked in the Environmental Microbiology Research Laboratory, where she primarily conducted research on the resource utilization of agricultural organic solid waste, transformation of organic nitrogen and the corresponding microbial response. She is also enthusiastic about research related to macroecology. She participated in a short-term summer camp at the Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
She completed her Master’s studies in Agricultural Bioscience from the Technical University of Munich in 2025. From 2023 to 2024, she completed an internship and worked as research assistant in Precision Agriculture Chair. There, she focused on using multispectral imagery and machine learning models to predict crop biomass under varying nitrogen conditions, gaining experience with agricultural remote sensing applications. She also contributed to research in molecular plant breeding and soil and plant hydrology, acquiring practical knowledge in plant breeding and soil dynamics.
At the Beginning of 2025 December, she starts her PhD study and has been investigating wheat yield prediction using crop modeling in digital agriculture chair. This work focuses on refining crop yield simulation models through a systematic, multi-scale analysis. It tests the NWheat model's performance under diverse conditions using historical trial data, while employing a structural-functional approach to quantify the phenological context and relative importance of trait interactions, thereby identifying critical knowledge gaps.
