The following topics are covered in the module: 

  • Formulation of mathematical models of physical, chemical and biological processes to describe the growth of crop systems
  • Formulation of mathematical models of transport processes of water and nitrogen in soils, and of turnover processes of soil organic matter
  • Construction of system models for the simulation of agricultural production systems
  • Evaluation of the most important growth models of the most relevant crops and variety parameterisation
  • Simulation of agricultural production systems for different locations using different fertilisation strategies
  • Application of growth models to different climatic conditions
  • Development of new approaches to growth models
