On November 21, 2025, Professor Asseng attended as an external co-supervisor the PhD thesis defense of Paola de Figueiredo Bongiovani at ETH Zurich. The title of her thesis was: 'Wheat Production under Rainfall Variability and Nitrogen Fertilization Constraints: Insights from a Swiss Location and Global Analysis".
