REGULUS-WaHo_boost: Strategic Strengthening and Promotion of Forest and Wood Research in Germany (cross-sectional project)
Forests do an outstanding job for the natural balance, for climate protection through carbon storage, for biodiversity and other ecosystem services, they secure jobs in the forestry and timber industry, and provide recreational functions and cultural values for society. The forestry and timber industries must adapt together to climate and ecosystem change. To achieve this, fundamental decisions with long-term implications must be made. This requires facts and evidence that only highly networked, inter- and transdisciplinary forest and wood research can provide.
The main objectives of the WaHo_boost project are therefore the coordinated networking of the regional project groups (RPG) granted by the BMBF under the REGULUS initiative, the promotion of inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation in forest and wood research as well as the synthesis of overarching results and their preparation for stakeholders and the public in close coordination with the BMBF and the funding institution.
